Today was a real milestone, as we went off to collect the freshly milled Douglas Fir floor from Ballytrim Sawmills. All our timber has come from Clarke Cunningham, and we were happily surprised to find that he’d done half as much again as we’d asked for, which is brilliant and will make an awful lot of shelves around the place. We spent the afternoon laying the floor, and in a few months will sand and oil it once it has settled in. Until then we’ll enjoy walking on the new surface, and marvel in the fact that we have another room to use.
Hi Claire and Steve, I was given this blog to look at your new house. It is fantastic. This is your cousin from Africa. Last saw you when your sister was born Claire. Hi ya Fran!! Good to hear from you:-) what are you up to these days? The house is fantastic, we’re just trying to dry it out now before bump’s now imminent arrival. I can just about remember you and Pauline coming over and staying at Oma’s and it was snowing…I keep missing Rose when she’s up but I did see your Mum and Aunties not that long ago. Will you be on our landmass anytime in the near future? love Claire
Well Another step for mankind! Fran got a mail through to Ireland.My sisters would be proud of me. You remember Pauline and me coming to Ouma’s house???? WOW That’s a good memory.
Life goes on here in SA and nursing is very busy. working late hours. buying mom’s house from the family and my boyfriend already lives there. I would like my own space and so am looking at building a small wooden dewelling on the property. The TV is not my friend and I like to stay as far from it as possible. I also cannot sleep with someone else in my bed. Therefore I am banished to the outdoors to find my own shelter. We are trying to establish a natural garden with only indigenous plants. It will be waterwise and low maintenance.
Mom is living in my boyfriend’s flat and loves her little space.She looks so good since her divorce and has thrown herself into her art again. Some of her work is beautiful.
As for being on your landmass in the near future – I’m afraid not. However if I do get to see Rose next year I would love to come and see your home. You are both very brave and strong I can see. Hope the birth goes well. I shall keep my eyes open for the pictures. Love Fran
