Last weekend saw the second Permaculture course to be run here at Lackan Cottage Farm, with tutor Hannah Mole, and guest appearance by Heiko Vermeulen who came to lead a foraging walk on the Saturday.
After an opening circle and a session to get to know each other, participants headed off to the woods to observe and then have a look at the ways in which everything is linked and interacts.
Permaculture principles of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares were introduced back in the classroom, and through the day we enjoyed excellent food courtesy of John up at the Turnip House.
Heiko came and led an excellent foraging walk around the place on Saturday afternoon, and we explored basic preserving in the form of Kimchi.
On Saturday night we got a preview of the new permaculture film ‘Inhabit’, featuring some really inspiring projects.
On day 2 the group looked at planning tools, explored the forest garden area and got some hands on practical work done , before doing some modelling, and then basic design exercises, before coming together to share experiences, and close the workshop. Thanks to all who came – a great group, some interesting discussion, and we hope to see you again.
