The upcycled off-grid horse truck
Why not unplug and unwind on a stay in our unique converted horse truck. Refurbished using reclaimed materials, this cosy space enjoys great views of the Mourne Mountains and is tucked away on a corner of our off grid smallholding in the County Down countryside. If you’re looking for an unusual place to stay then the off grid horsebox is for you.
A well equipped kitchen and dining area, lobby, shower room, snug with a wood burning stove and box bed are all cleverly fitted into our Ford horsebox. The truck was our home for a time before we found Lackan Cottage Farm, and we still miss living in the cosy space. Your very own herb garden, outside composting loo, and solar power are all part of the off-grid experience.
The truck has a big kitchen / dining room, with a full size gas cooker and plenty of storage. Hot water is provided by a combination of woodstove and gas heater, which also heat the shower. There is low voltage lighting, and a phone charger, but no mains electricity.
Lying in bed, you have a beautiful view of the Mourne Mountains.
The truck is tucked away in a corner of our smallholding, and has it’s own deck area with seating and a chiminea.
