Whether you have a project already started, or are dreaming of your ideal plot, this course will help you turn your dreams into reality. A hands on course for all abilities and experience levels.

Learn how to use permaculture design principles,  tools and processes to make the most of your site or project. Using practical hands on examples you will explore the tools needed to assess and plan, then develop a project on a small budget by using the resources to hand, improvising and d-i-y-ing everything from compost loos to water treatment, and beautiful buildings.

Plus a unique opportunity to spend a weekend at this beautiful and productive real-life working permaculture farm and family home where you will have ample opportunity to explore and find out more about the gardens, buildings and systems such as reedbeds, composting toilets, renewable energy and natural building.

The July Course is now fully booked. If you would like to come on the course let us know as we keep a reserve list and if there’s enough people we can put another date on. Email lackancottage@riseup.net

Lackan Cottage Farm is a 6 acre smallholding in rural County Down. A mixture of improved bog and woodland, we’ve been restoring cottages, growing food and raising animals here for four years now. The farm is a test bed for many different technologies and welcomes many visitors and volunteers throughout the year.

The tutors:
Hannah Mole is an experienced permaculture teacher who lives in Roscommon. She has taught extensively throughout Ireland, and at Lackan Cottage Farm for the last 3 years. Hannah says “I was captivated by permaculture through the idea that we can consciously design the way we live to contribute something positive to the rest of the world rather than be a drain on it.”

Steve Golemboski-Byrne is the co-owner of Lackan Cottage Farm and has wide experience in the practical side of building up a smallholding, covering everything from renewable energy to natural building. He worked for many years as a horse trainer, and now has working horses on the farm.
