Day three on our roundhouse build, and we have made excellent progress. Today we prepared the supporting posts by charring the ends of them in a fire, before dropping them into the post holes dug on Monday. Clinton, Chris and I backfilled the holes with slate, pounding it in with sledgehamers to secure the posts really well. Here is Tina checking one for uprightness.
While we were doing the posts, the rest of the team worked away de-barking all the remaining timber ready for use. By the looks of it we will have just enough to create the basic frame.
Below is the frame at the end of day three – two of the henges are in place and secured, with the rest laid out ready to be fitted and lifted into place. Once they are up we’ll be able to build the porch frame, and then we’re ready for the roof structure.
