If you fancy rolling up your sleeves and coming to be part of a new smallholding, then we want to hear from you. We’re going to register as Wwoof hosts, but if anyone wants to come and spend time under the usual Wwoof agreement, ie – we house and feed you in return for your help, then drop us a line. Alternatively we are open to suggestions. As well as the day to day jobs of sorting out the hens, feeding horses, managing the woodland, and horticultural things we have all manner of projects to get under way including:
- Putting up and establishing a polytunnel
- Creating raised beds
- Tree planting
- Creating Hugelkultur beds
- Building a new treebog
- Building a roundhouse workshop
- Laying out paths and tracks
and many more….
We offer interesting accommodation in our converted horsebox, which features a big kitchen/diner, hot and cold running water, gas hob, fridge, lots of storage, shower/loo/washbasin, choice of sleeping (over cab or in the back), and woodburning stove. All electricity is solar powered. It is warm and cosy and two people can live in comfort (we did for over a year).
You can learn about everything from animal husbandry to horticulture to green woodworking, and hopefully you’ll teach us plenty too.
In return we are looking for enthusiasm, imagination and hard work, in a lovely rural setting, not too far from the mountains and sea, and with scope for having a go at lots of interesting stuff.
If you are interested or have some interesting proposal to put to us, then get in touch by email – stevepbyrne [at] gmail.com
