Well we have a new neighbour – 3 fields away is this 250kw turbine, and it has been fascinating to watch the progress as it has grown over the last few days. As you can see, it is a fair size, and certainly makes an impact on the skyline. Interestingly I find the power lines more intrusive on the view of the landscape than the turbine behind them, and whatever the motivations for its installation, the appearance of increasing number of turbines and solar panels is a sign that we are edging, however slowly, towards reduced reliance on fossil fuels.
The blades are carefully hoisted into position – the guy up there must have a serious head for heights.
