As a result of some lucky trading, we were able to pass on the truly massive stove that came our way, but which was way too big for the room, and get ourselves a shiny new Stanley stove for the living room. The gas bottle stove has gone back into the truck where it rightfully belongs, and works so well.
It was Christmas come early, as we lugged the box into the room to get it all unpacked, and a couple of hours and a lot of swearing later, it is installed and working beautifully. Living room is extremely toasty.
that’s looking great Steve! just the thing for a night like this. They look like a really good job too.
Its not as big as the one you have, and doesn’t have as much control over the draft, so I think if we’d had any bigger a fireplace I’d have got something a bit more sophisticated. I’m going to put a bit of steel over the grate tomorrow as we’ll only burn wood, and the air coming through it isn’t ideal. Its quite hard to get dedicated woodburners at the less expensive end of the scale.
Looks just the like one we have in the living room!
What a brilliant trade, well done. Looks just the thing for those cold winter evenings.
It looks great Steve. We have a Stanley Waterford 104, mk 11, in our front room. I featured recently on my blog entitled: Avian voices from my smallholding chimney. It hardly uses any coal and soon gets the room warm.
