We’re all fired up – not only because the benign weather has allowed us to share food around the fire for a few days, but because after just three days of campaigning we have reached over  30% of our funding goal! We’re full of exciting plans for the build that looks increasingly likely to go ahead as amazing people continue to show their support.

Over the weekend we visited the Ulster American Folk Park and were really inspired by the timber buildings there, and in particular those with verandas, which seem to link the inside to the outside very nicely. Add to that the effect of building in wood, and you have a beautiful building.

A timber veranda like this, connects inside and outdoor space, as well as offering an additional opportunity to work outside under cover.

Wooden structure, cladding and roof shingles make for a really unique building.

Wooden shutters are a genuinely useful feature in the Northern Irish climate, and we may well incorporate them.

As well as asking people to pledge towards our funding total, we are looking for help from anyone with timber framing, straw bale building or lime plastering experience. Give us a shout if you are interested.
