Build a biodigester to make cooking gas
We’re going to build a home biogas digester to make gas for cooking. The digester is being built to a well established design by SolarCities using IBC containers (the plastic cubes in cages), and the plan is to build it in a day. It takes some time for the unit to start to produce gas once it is put into operation, so we aim to come back together a few weeks later and see how its working, update progress etc.
We’re building the digester with the aim of providing all our cooking gas for a significant portion of the year, so this will be a good opportunity to participate in the build and see if making your own cooking gas is something you could do in your own home.
This isn’t a course as such – we haven’t done this before either, so you are welcome to come along and join in, however it would be really useful if people would commit so that we know how many will be there on the day.
