Off Grid Living series: #5 Food
This course is aimed at: The food growing novice or those who are already growing some food and interested in no-dig practice, starting to grow in polytunnels, or those starting in permaculture.
Growing your own food is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Find out about growing food in a permaculture context – companion planting, guilds and forest gardens. During the day you’ll look at polytunnel growing, dealing with poor soils, and how to make your food growing part of an integrated system. We will show how a no dig approach can save time and improve both soil health and yields.
Importantly we’ll look at what to do with food once you’ve grown it – how to store and process your produce.
This course will take place largely outdoors so sturdy boots and a coat are essential. Participants might also like to bring some gloves. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, and participants should bring something to eat at lunchtime.
