After six days work, the roundhouse is really starting to take shape. Three quarters of the roof has been boarded out, and will be the visible ceiling from inside. The outside will be covered with old sheet or tarp, then strawbale, then pond liner, then more old carpet, and finally soil.
We are just starting to form the porch roof profile there, and now that the outer shape of the rafter ends is defined, you can really see the final shape of the roof, and it is beginning to feel more enclosed.
The rammed slate post foundations are solid as a rock, and there’s no movement in the frame at all, which is a relief.
Volunteers have been hard at work debarking all the bits of timber needed in the frame – more than I had anticipated, really, but we’ve found enough.
