So the first proper storm of autumn is coming tonight, and rather than wait for mother nature to do her thing, and then clean up the mess afterwards, we decided to be more organised this year and take down the tipi, wind turbine and firepit shelter, just in case it gets as bad as we’re threatened with.

It’s sad to see the tipi come down, even though it’ll be back in the spring, the place seems empty without it, although the same can’t be said for the wind turbine, as it is pretty scary when the wind is really fierce, and is one less thing to worry about. All day we’ve been scurrying about, screwing down loose bits of tin, weighing down plastic sheet, and gathering firewood into the house, as if it were a week of storms coming on us, and not just one bad night. Still, best be prepared..
