Our intrepid wwoof volunteers Samantha and Irene from Italy have arrived, and are getting to grips with our vegetable beds, which after a spell of very dry and then very wet weather, were growing increasingly full of weeds. Happily they have now tamed the hugulcultur bed, which is now home to french and runner beans.
Meanwhile the flowers we planted to attract bees and other pollinators are working well – Mervyn and Stephen now have 2 hives of honeybees here, which are loving the gardens.
After a slow start our squash are taking off too, and we’ll be able to add them to a bumper onion harvest.
