Lackan Cottage Farm is a 6 acre smallholding in rural County Down. A mixture of improved bog and woodland, we’ve been restoring cottages, growing food and raising animals here for four years now. The farm is a test bed for many different technologies and welcomes many visitors and volunteers throughout the year.
The tutors:
Hannah Mole is an experienced permaculture teacher who lives in Roscommon. She has taught extensively throughout Ireland, and at Lackan Cottage Farm for the last 3 years. Hannah says “I was captivated by permaculture through the idea that we can consciously design the way we live to contribute something positive to the rest of the world rather than be a drain on it.”
Steve Golemboski-Byrne is the co-owner of Lackan Cottage Farm and has wide experience in the practical side of building up a smallholding, covering everything from renewable energy to natural building. He worked for many years as a horse trainer, and now has working horses on the farm.
