The off grid horse truck

Last year we discovered that our off grid horse truck is as much loved by visitors as it was by us when we lived in it. A stay in the off grid horse truck is an opportunity to escape from connectivity completely. The truck has been fitted out with recycled materials, an is truly unique. No wifi, no mains power, the truck is run entirely from solar and batteries, and has a cosy box bed, living room with a woodburning stove, as well as a shower room, and a galley kitchen with a dining area.

At the front of the truck is the kitchen and dining area, with plenty of preparation and seating room. The whole truck has LED lighting powered from batteries, which are charged by solar panels. In the centre of the truck is a lobby area, and a shower room. The shower is heated by either the woodburning stove or a small gas heater.

At the rear of the truck is the living room with Stanley woodburner, and the box bed, with its large circular window looking out towards the Mourne Mountains.

Outside you’ll find the compost loo a short dash away, and a private decked area at the back of the truck with great views of the Mourne Mountains. The truck is tucked away on a corner of our smallholding, where you can walk in the woods, meet our horses, hens, cats and dog, and sample home grown veg.
