After a couple of frantic days activity, we have what passes for a kitchen. It came in a form that I like to call ‘extreme flatpack’ – ie some lengths of 3×2, and pine boarding. The old pine ceiling from the extension has come up well, and forms the fronts of the ‘units’; the huge old sink that came out of the bushes on a friend’s farm is installed and working, and some freecycled tiles clean up the stove area nicely. Total cost for the units and worktop comes in at under £200, which isn’t bad considering the worktop is solid cedar.
The slate floor came largely from gumtree, and all that remains now is to fit all the door furniture, and sand and treat the worktop. Oh and shelves – lots of shelves.
