The best of craft in the Mournes
We are fortunate to have incredibly talented and creative craftspeople living and working in County Down, and in particular around here in the Mournes. Combine craft with some great food, and you have some of our favourite places to visit around the Mourne Mountains. You’ll find great craft in the Mournes – .Here are our five favourites:
1: The Turnip House
The Turnip House Tea Room is just outside Leitrim Village, down from the Windy Gap. Enjoy John’s famous Lemon Drizzle cake and wonderful soups and breads, then browse the beautiful crafts made by both Elaine and John and many other local craftpeople. Elaine makes incredible felted creations, and John knits wonderful jumpers. Charlie the dog is always ready with a warm welcome. Find them at 64 Dromara Road, and http://turniphouse.com/

Craftedesign came alive when owner Catherine Bradford was forced to take a career break to support her son who received a late diagnoses of autism at the age of 13. Loving everything artisan, she saw a gap in the market place, and Craftedesign came alive! Craftedesign is a craft shop which provides space to local designers and makers, giving them the opportunity to sell products in their local marketplace.
Craftedesign aims to provide its customers with as much variation as possible in the products that it stocks and also the price point of its products. Craftedesign ensures that all products are of a high quality. Craftedesign likes to see itself as different, by providing artisan, bespoke products. We pride ourselves in being different & not on the high street.
